Dear readers...
This past week I was working at food and beverage as a waiter and assistant manager. I had a lot of walking and running to do to get things done and keep the customers happy. I even received R100 tip from one family for my service I provided and the friendly help they have received.
I did a wildlife center breakfast on my own for a family of 3 as well where I had to load the fnb bakkie with all the things we need, drive to the wildlife center, set up the breakfast as it would have been in the restaurant, serve them and clean up afterwords. We also got some boskos so the giraffe would not constantly bother us and it turned out in such fun to get them to stick out their blue/purple, 30cm long tongues and take the pellets right out of our hands.
My second week I have been fixing fences and doing donkey cart and pony rides. We are currently helping the wildlife center to put up the electric fence for the new lion cage as they will be placing Lex there with the new lion cubs. We all burnt our skin in the sun working but I guess that is just part of the job, sunscreen is definitely a must on my next shopping list!
We are also reaching our deadlines on our portfolio's of evidence and so they have been drilling us to finish it for our qualifications. In a way this is a good thing because now we know we are finished with nothing to worry about but they expect of us to finish our work, be in the workplace every hour of the day and work ourselves to death basically... If they had given us time during the day to finish up some things then it would have been fine but now that they are behind and they are feeling the pressure, they pin it in us to get our things done to save themselves. During the year bullrush removal has always been chosen above doing assessments and why? because without us they don't have much staff to finish the things that need to be finished for the guests.
It really has been a very fun filled day with a lot of new experiences, friends and colleagues.. Now it's time for 2012 and its adventures!
