Dear readers.
Today was a very exciting day as it was my first time taking part in chemical capture. This means to dart the desired animal with a sedation and then wake them up again in the container.
Step 1: Gather all equipment and choose a place for the home container.
Step 2: Two vehicles are needed, one to dart out of and the other to transport the animal to the home container.
Step 3: The animal will be darted and then a period of 5-10mins will go by for it to fall asleep.
Step 4: The animal needs to be placed in the upright position and the tongue needs to be removed from the mouth to prevent the animal from choking on it.
Step 5: The ear needs to be tagged with the right number and then given the needed vitamins to give it a boost so it does not crash.
Step 6: The animal needs to be placed on the transporter and taken to the home container to be woken up with M50/50 which is a chemical that revives them from the sedation.
When you have the desired amount of animals you need to take them to an enclosure big enough for them and that has no escape route. You need to evaluate their physical condition to check for hiper ventilation and heart attacks due to stress. We took the Impala's to an enclosure in the wlc to keep them in during the rest of the capture, they then left in the transporting container to the farm where they will be bred with.
