Tornado Tuesday

Dear readers.

This morning we were given the chance to catch up with our blogs. Cobus also took us outside to demonstrate to us how to do a soil sample. He ripped open a black plastic bag into one long strip and threw the soil onto it. He spread it around and showed us how to mix it in such a way that a complete random sample can be taken. Then he took a bit of each side and threw it in another bag and closed it up, not totally though because it needs to breathe and he then labeled it after showing us how to write out a label.

He explained to us the difference between chemical and biological matter when it comes to soil. He also gave us a hand out on soil results so we could see how they annalise  the different components.

He told us about the Redbilled Quelea, a pest bird, and that we need to get information on it so we can get to a solution on how to stop them from causing so  much damage. We did fire checks after lunch as one big group so everyone could see where to check what and we will be doing a project on it. We then got onto the cruiser and went to Tambuki for heritage exposure.

We found iron there, rock formations and tools as well as pot shards.

After dinner we got together to go look for Redbilled Queleas at the vlei but of course the cruiser broke and we had to squash into the Sondela bakkie. We unfortunately did not find anything and it was very dark.

When we came back we had to push the cruiser back to the workshop and it was so much fun... Maby because I was the one taking photos!

At the end of the day we all had fun and we also had to climb underneath the fence like poachers!
Greetings
Poacher in the making.
